The Circle Of Life
-Libo M-

Paragraph.
"From the day we arrive on the planet
And blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do that can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round"
This verse refers to Genesis in that it talks about the begining of the world.  The title suggests how life begins and ends and how as one life leaves the earth another one comes into the world which is the definition of the "circle of life."  The corcle of life is also reffered to in the song as the "endless round."  This is because for those who witness it on Earth, they see people dying and they also see babies being bored.  If you are living you see the endless round and eventually you will be part  of the endless round of life.

Isn't She Lovely
-Stevie Wonder-

"Isn't she pretty
Truly the angel's best
Boy, I'm so happy
We have been heaven blessed
I can't believe what God has done
through us he's given life to one"
This song usually is used to talk about a baby and as they grow up and what a person they come to be.  For those of you who recently went through middle school and experienced bar mitzvahs, this song was commonly used as a background int he motages. It says how God can bless people with a new life and what a miracle it actually is.

What a WonderfulWorld
-Louis Armstrong-

"I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.
I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world"
This verse of this song talks about nature and talks about life and new beginnings as well. When thinking of this song one might think of a father after his wife  has just had a child.  He's walking and admiring everything like the nature because this new life has put him in such a great mood that even "babies crying" is wonderful because its a sign of growth.

With Arms Wide Open
-Creed-

"If I had just one wish only one demand
I hope hes not like me I hope he understands
that he can take this life and hold it by the hand
and he can greet the world with arms wide open  With arms wide open
under the sunlight
welcome to this place
I'll show you everything
with arms wide open
now everything has changed
I'll show you love
I'll show you everything
with arms wide open"
This verse talks about someone who is experiencing a fresh start in life, a new beginning.  They want this person to be accepting of the world and embrace it for all its worth.  Since the narrator of this song has gone through life and experienced a lot of what it has to offer, they feel they are capable of showing someone else the way and the different sides to the world and life.

The Beginning Is The End Is The Beginning
 -Smashing Pumpkins-

United States of Pop
-remixed by DJ Earworm-

So dont worry, even if the sky is falling down
Down, Down
Gonna be okay, when it knocks you down, down, down
So baby dont worry, its alright, a-alright
When it knocks you down
When you go down, when you go down, down
No need to worry, just get back up
When you are tumbling down, down, down

Oh, Ive been travelling on this road too long (too long)
Just trying to find my way back home (back home)
The old me is dead and gone, dead and gone

In this song, it states that one should never give up even when times are tough. Hence, this song talks about new beginnings and that there should never be an end because you should be always trying again and again no matter what the circumstance. In addition, in the second stanza, it also talks about how they are trying to change themselves for the better which allows them to have a new start to their life.

Man in the Mirror
-Michael Jackson-

I'm Starting With The Man In
The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change
His Ways
And No Message Could Have
Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World
A Better Place
(If You Wanna Make The
World A Better Place)
Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change
(Take A Look At Yourself, And
Then Make A Change)
In this song, Michael Jackson wants to change his ways and start again because he truly wants to make the world a better place. He is willing to leave the old "Michael" behind in order to have a new beginning. Furthermore, he also wants people to look at him for his new life instead of his past doings

At theBeginning
-Richard Marx and Donna Lewis-

"Life is a road And I want to keep going// Love is a river I wanna keep flowing// Life is a road// Now and forever //Wonderful journey// I'll be there When the world stops turning// I'll be there When the storm is through// In the end I wanna be standing// At the beginning with you"
This verse represents a love and a relationship between two people that is a journey.  They never wanna be apart, always together from the beginning until the end.  Through all the journeys they will take together in life they want to last through them all together and embrace challenges they face because nothing can break them apart.

Black or White
-Michael Jackson-

And I told about equality
And it's true
Either you're wrong
Or you're right
But
If you're thinkin'
About my baby
It don't matter if you're
Black or white

In Michael Jackson’s song, Black or White, he states that he is sick and tired of all of the racism that occurs in our country. He wanted everyone to be equal and wanted people to treat others with dignity and respect. He too, like Tracey from Hairspray, wanted a new beginning for African Americans because to him ‘it really didn’t matter if you were black or white.’

Genesis

-Phil Collins, Tony Banks, Peter Gabrielle, Steve Hackett, Anthony Phillips, John Mayhew, Mike Rutherford, John Silver, Ray Wilson, and Chris Stewart-
The former band started out with two rivaling bands.  One group “The Garden Wall” with fifteen year olds Peter Gabriel and Tony Banks and the other “Anon” with fourteen year old Anthony Phillips.  These two groups joined together and produced a short demo tape that caught the eye of a producer named Jonathan King.  They produced two singles that weren’t very popular and were going through hard times with drummers.  They had Chris Stewart and John Silver but they didn’t work out in the long run.  Finally they found a new drummer John Mayhew.  Mayhew left soon after and was replaced by Phil Collins.  They had also lost guitarist Anthony Phillips due to bad stage fright.  They replaced him with guitarist Steve Hackett.  After a nice run without any dropouts they were heading towards the right direction.

At the time of their breakthrough Peter Gabrielle announced he was leaving the band.  The band voted that Phil Collins would become the lead vocals.  After Steve Hackett announced he too was leaving the band, Rutherford played the guitarist parts on the recordings.  Before their last album all the band members had pursued extremely successful solo- careers.  Phil Collins left to pursue his solo- career.  He was replaced by Ray Wilson who was not successful and left the band.  The band crumbled fast and did one last recording with Banks, Hackett, Collins, and Gabriel.  The band had a very rocky road from the beginning.  The name Genesis parallels the Genesis chapter in the Bible.  Everything starts out nicely and then they hit bumps in the road with what they’ve created.  The band has members coming and going.  In the Bible, Adam and Eve expose evil to the world and Cain kills Abel.  God must have thought to give up at some points.  Yet he never quit and neither did the band until the end.  They stuck through the think and the thin.  They handled stardom well and took their own careers further than the band.
